Dandruff is a common concern, from itchy scalp to white dry flakes hanging in hair, from hair-fall to embarrassment it gives that all. I am suffering from dandruff issues since long and there hasn’t been anything that cured it completely. I am always on a lookout of finding something that REALLY works and soothes my itchy scalp and shoo away this overly annoying scalp issue. Today, I’ll be reviewing The Body Shop Ginger Anti-Dandruff Shampoo which I bought after reading online reviews; keep reading to know how it fared 🙂 –Price- INR 795/- for 250 mlAbout- This refreshing shampoo with ginger extract is perfect for dry scalps.
My Take on The Body Shop Ginger Anti-Dandruff Shampoo- I’ll start off with the packaging, it comes in fat plastic bottle which is exactly similar to that of The Body Shop body washes. The bottle comes secured with flip cap which is really sturdy and locks up nicely, it has never annoyed me while carried during journeys. The bottle looks dark green from outside but the actual product is transparent. The consistency is on the runnier side, when I hold the bottle upside down to take shampoo out and squeeze a little, it just flows 😀 . Since the key ingredient is Ginger, this shampoo smells strong. I don’t like ginger, so it took me some time to get used to the way it smelled, though after few washes I was pretty okay with it 😛 .Coming to the goodness of Ginger, it’s well known for its surprising skin and health benefits. It’s helpful in treating dandruff, hair fall and promotes hair growth. I was recommended to try ginger DIYs to get rid of stubborn dandruff but I was extremely lazy to go ahead with it, so I searched for ginger based products and luckily I found this one. This shampoo lathers up nicely and cleans scalp effectively. On days I oil my hair, I apply little more quantity of what I usually put and it cleans oil perfectly. In first few usage, I could notice reduction in itchiness I used to feel on my scalp, with continued usage there were less dry flakes and I could see a visible difference in my dandruff issues BUT that’s where it stopped performing. I mean I wanted it to go few extra miles and that was all it could help me with..It minimized dandruff, soothed my scalp but it couldn’t help me get rid of it entirely. When you start using a new product, it performs outstanding in the beginning and the performance goes static as soon as you continue the usage (has it happened with you too?) . For oiled hair it was all fine, but it used to be little drying for non-oiled hair and I found it disappointing. I already have dry hair-dry scalp, so I have to rely on some good quality conditioner to seal in the moisture.
The Body Shop Banana Conditioner is so much raved about, so I tried combining this shampoo with banana conditioner and it was definitely not a good choice. Both are well-performing products, but matching these two is surely not a good idea.
