Hello to all the divas in the making 😛 . I know all of us love to play with our makeup and lipsticks especially are the prized possession in one’s makeup  kit. Even though this is my first review but I, myself love all kinds of makeup products and have been extensively using them. So, today I will be reviewing  Mac Retro Matte Steady Going lipstick.

M.A.C store isn’t approachable from where I live so I purchased this lipstick from Nykaa online store. Here’s what I have to say about it 😊 –

About-

M·A·C Lipstick – the iconic product that made M·A·C famous. This long-wearing formula features an intense colour payoff and a completely matte finish.

  • Long-wearing, eight hours
  • Non-feathering
  • Fade-proof

Price-

INR 1500 for 3 grams.

Packaging-

MAC Retro Matte Steady Going lipstick comes in a black colored plastic cylindrical base with conical cap and a silver ring in the middle joining the cylinder. The lipstick is super easy to handle and travel friendly as the cap closes with a click. Overall the packaging gives feeling of a not so common product and is definitely sturdy.

Color-

A light pink completely matte lipstick! This lipstick has a cotton candy pink color with strong cool undertone. It offers a true matte finish without shine which accentuates, defines and showcases the lips. The lipstick comes  with an extremely smooth texture, it is easy to blend and super easy to apply.

Texture-

The texture of MAC Retro Matte Steady Going is super matte not compromising with the smoothness factor but a bit dry. The lipstick is easy to blend and applying once/ twice is sufficient. However, layering more than twice makes the lips appear dry and feels uncomfortable. Although the smoothness is there even then you have to apply a bit of pressure to spread it on lips.

Longevity-

This lipsticks lasts easily for 4-5 hours after which a gentle layering would suffice. However if applied without lip balm it forms dry patches and will crumble on lips from between.

My Experience-

I have been in love with the color, the texture, the super matte finish as personally I do not prefer shiny shades specially in summer season. This lipstick is not suitable to be worn during winter season as it makes your lips dry. This lipstick does not transfer because of its matte texture and I particularly like this property.

Mac’s Retro-matte range is not recommended for ladies with dry lips however it can be applied after moisturizing your lips a little bit with a good lip balm. Overall, I recommend this lipstick as summer perfect product.

Things I like about this-

  • Longevity
  • Sturdy packaging
  • True Matte finish
  • Smoothness
  • Easy application
  • Good pigmentation
  • Great value for price
  • Suits every skin tone
  • Travel friendly
  • Lip color does not fade in extreme heat and humidity

Things I dislike about this-

  • Not suitable for dry lips as it further makes the lips more dry.
  • Not recommended for winter season
  • Crumbles on lips when applied more than twice

Ratings- 4.5/5

Wrapping it up-

If you do not like to wear shiny shades but likes smoothness with matte finish then this lipstick is for you.  Not recommended for dry lips, however if you are still keen then use it with a good moisturizing lip balm. Overall, it’s a good lipstick which instantly brightens up the complexion and provides good value for money.
