One skin care tip that everyone raves about is “you should always remove your makeup before you go to the bed“. We all have heard about this from all the makeup gurus, skin care experts, beauty bloggers, agony aunts, Moms and of course us, your guide to beauty and skin care. It is s the one rule we’re told to never break for the sake of having healthy skin. Removing your makeup before bedtime is very important as it makes your skin clean and followed by Cleansing-Toning-Moisturizing is icing on the cake. Night care routine lets your skin breathe and make it ready for the next day. So don’t be a lazy bum, instead follow your night care regime religiously 🙂 .
I have got this habit of removing my makeup and going to bed squeaky clean. Ah, what a feeling! I have inculcated this habit ever since I have started using makeup. Since then, I have used so many makeup removers varying from brands like Maybelline, Loreal, Garnier, Bioderma Sensibio H20, and what not. Last year when I was doing shopping for my wedding, I picked up this makeup remover from The Body Shop India – Camomile Gentle Eye Makeup Remover. Let’s see what I have to say about this product! – 😬About- Melt away eye make-up around the eyes. Our Camomile eye make-up remover gently cleanses, leaving the skin smooth and clean.
- Suitable for sensitive skin and contact lens wearers
- Camomile extract from Norfolk, England
- Removes eye make-up
- No added fragrance, colour or alcohol
- Leaves lashes and lids feeling softer and clean
Price- INR 795 for 250ml. It is easily available online at Nykaa and TheBodyShop’s website. I have bought it from The Body Shop store itself. My Take on The Body Shop Camomile Gentle Eye Makeup Remover- The makeup remover comes in a white plastic bottle which is a bit heavy and not travel-friendly. It is not one of the best packagings by The BodyShop. I do like their products and packaging but this one is not that great. It is a white bottle which is non-transparent so you can’t tell how much product is left from the outside. Overall, not very happy with the packaging. The texture of the makeup remover is NON-OILY water based. It is of watery-consistency and very light in texture. It looks like water, feels like water and has got a fragrance that is mild, subtle but smells a bit chemical-y. Though I liked the texture but did not like the smell. If it was odor-less I would have liked it better. I am a person who loves doing eye makeup especially eyeliner and kajal. If I forget to apply, people think I am sick😝 Absolutely love doing thick winged eyeliner and kohl-rimmed eyes. At times I do use mascara and always wanted a makeup remover that does the job well. I bought this makeup remover as it was designed for removing eye makeup with gentle and ease. I take a small amount of the product on a cotton pad (which are again from The Body Shop) and gently put it on my eyes and then swipe across. At first, it does take out some of the eyeliner, not the entire thing. I have to reapply the cotton pad to remove it. Ah! It’s a task for me. It doesn’t take out the entire thing at one go and on top of that – I DO BURN MY EYES! OMG, I literally cry every time I use it. It burns my eyes and immediately I have to splash water on my face to get rid of it. This is when I am just using it for the eyeliner part forget about waterline. I don’t use it to remove kajal. For the mascara, it does take it off but it’s a pain in the a$$. I feel like I should use coconut oil instead of this, haha, that would have done a better job without burning a hole in my pocket. This thing is not value for money.
Since it is a water-based makeup remover and I don’t wanna waste it or throw it away, I use this to clean my entire face. It does the job of removing my base product and lipstick. That it does well, but since it is specially designed for eyes, I am certainly NOT HAPPY with the product. In fact, I am going to change my makeup remover and won’t suggest anyone to buy it! Pros-
- It does remove other makeup as in the base foundation and lipstick.
- It is water-based and perfect for people who don’t like oil-based based removers.
- The brand is cruelty-free and is against animal testing.
Cons- (Oh My, where to start from!) :
- Not worth the money.
- Didn’t like the fragrance.
- The bottle is heavy and not travel-friendly.
- It does burn my eyes and irritates it to the extent that I have to use water immediately.
This is totally my opinion as others rave about this product and love it! It’s a personal choice. Have you tried this, what’s your take? Let us in the comment section below. Cheers!!!
