Lakme 9 to 5 Primer+Matte Powder Foundation Ivory Cream- Review

Winter season is here in full swing and so is the season of weddings and therefore getting dolled up is inevitable. This wedding season I got the opportunity to try a makeup product that has a very unique concept. It is an all in one product with primer, matte powder, foundation and compact by Lakme 9 to 5 range. Interestingly this is in a pressed powder form which makes it super quick and easy to use. Again thanks to Vishakha for sending this one. Read on to find out how it was 🙂 –
Price- Rs 600/- for 9 gm

About- This foundation delivers even coverage that is buildable by nature. It conceals fine lines and effortlessly spreads over your skin. It’s a foundation that has an in-built primer and comes in a powder format. Available in 6 shades, it’s ideal for women with oily skin with it’s long lasting matte finish. My Take on Lakme 9 to 5 Primer+Matte Powder Foundation Compact Ivory Cream- The product comes in a super chic rose gold plastic reflective case. The case in turn comes in a rose gold cardboard packaging with all details printed on it. The case has two compartments. One has the product and the other is for the sponge. There is a mirror provided as well. It is travel friendly and convenient to use. There is hardly any fragrance and the product is covered with a thin plastic sheet to protect it. Let me share my views on this unique product that is aimed to revamp and quicken the tedious makeup routine. It claims to have the qualities of 4 products in one but to my dismay it is jack of all trades and master of none. I am not happy with coverage as it fails to cover any blemishes or dark spots. You definitely need a concealer for those. Neither does it take care of fine lines or pores to a great extent. It is claimed to be buildable but if you use too much product then it will dry up the skin. It can be used wet or dry which is another unique feature. You can wet the sponge applicator and apply the powder. I find it messy and unhygenic. You cannot really control the amount of product like you can do in case of a liquid foundation and a wet sponge is a breeding ground for bacteria. If you have oily or combination skin you are going to like it but if you have dry skin then do not use it without a moisturiser. It is a little expensive as it serves the purpose of a compact more than anything else. I would say it was a good attempt by Lakme to come up with something innovative but certain things need to be used in a specific way only. Combining them in an all in one packaging tends to reduce the specific effectiveness of individual products. I am not a fan of all in one products. It is very good as a compact and can be used for quick touch up after having your makeup in place.

Pros-
  • Appealing packaging.
  • Travel friendly.
  • Available in 6 shades.
  • Imparts matte finish.
  • Can be used dry as well as wet.
  • Easy application.
  • Does not leave a whitish cast.
Cons-
  • Expensive.
  • More of a compact than a foundation.
  • Light coverage.
  • Not great for dry skin beauties.

Overall, I would say if you are blessed with a spotless skin but are just looking out for a clean and finished look then it is for you. If you have oily skin and are looking for a matte finish then you will like it. People who are not a fan of makeup but have naturally good skin and want a quick party ready face then you can invest in this product. If you are looking for coverage then you will be disappointed. So, I would say its more of an expensive compact than anything else.
